- 2020 American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)/Subaru SB&F Prize for Excellence in Science Books winners announced - the awards recognize "outstanding science writing and illustration for children and young adults" (source) and is intended to "encourage the writing and publishing of high-quality science books for all age groups" (source). The award includes Children's Science Picture Book, Middle Grades Science Book, Young Adult Science Book, and Hands-On Science Book categories.
- 2020 Bank Street Center for Children’s Literature Best Spanish Language Picture Book Award winners announced - the award is intended to "help parents, teachers and librarians choose books that children will find captivating and transforming" (source) and to "encourage more publishers to create high quality materials in Spanish for children" (source).
- 2020 Charlotte Zolotow Award winner announced - the award recognizes the "best picture book text published in the United States in the preceding year" (source).
- 2020 Dolly Gray Children’s Literature Award winner announced - the award recognizes "high quality fictional and biographical children, intermediate, and young adult books that authentically portray individuals with developmental disabilities, such as autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, and Down syndrome" (source).
- 2020 Edgar Awards nominees announced - the awards recognize books in the "mystery, crime, suspense, and intrigue fields" (source). The award includes Best Juvenile Mystery and Best Young Adult Mystery categories.
- 2020 Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators Golden Kite Award and Sid Fleischman Award winners announced - the Golden Kite Award recognizes "excellence in children’s literatures" (source) and the Sid Fleischman Award recognizes "excellence of writing in the genre of humor" (source).
- I missed this one last week but the 2019 Lee & Low New Voices Award winner was announced - the award recognizes "a children’s picture book manuscript by a writer of color or Native/Indigenous writer" (source).
- 2020 Walter Dean Myers Award for Outstanding Children’s Literature winners announced - the awards are intended to "honor and celebrate diverse books written by diverse authors" (source) and recognize books which "feature diverse main characters and address diversity in a meaningful way" (source). The award includes a Teen Category and a Younger Readers Category.
